BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The People’s Liberation Army Air Force is flying supplies directly to residents in remote parts of quake-hit Lushan County.
On Tuesday, a number of air-force helicopters completed seven supply operations to remote regions, and four missions to bring injured people out. 17 tonnes of relief supplies were taken directly to areas in Lushan, including bottled water, instant noodles and other food.
The PLA Air Force says there’s no hel at Baosheng Township in Lushan County, so helicopters have been landing in fields. Roads to many remote towns have been blocked by sliding rocks since Saturday’s quake, leaving survivors facing food shortages.
As of 8:00 p.m. Monday, the division had flown 245 rescue workers to the quake-hit area and transferred 14 injured people.
