BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhuanet) -- The Syrian government has asked the United Nations to send an independent mission to the country, to investigate a reported chemical weapons attack by rebels.
Syria’s UN Ambassador, Bashar Ja’afari, on Wednesday asked the UN secretary general to form a specialized technical team, to investigate the incident in the country’s northern province of Aleppo.
At least 25 people were killed and 130 others wounded on Tuesday, when armed men fired a rocket carrying deadly chemicals into Khan al-Asal town in Aleppo. The Syrian government says armed opposition fighters were behind the attack.
Rebel’s fighters have denied the accusations, and say government forces were responsible.
