BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai says the Afghan Taliban and the have been holding talks in Qatar. But the president’s statement has been denied by a Taliban spokesman, who said no progress had been made since the previous talks were suspended.

The Kabul government has been pushing to get the Taliban to the negotiating table before most NATO combat troops withdraw from by the end of 2014.
