BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhuanet) -- South Korea and the United States are holding a joint air assault training course. The exercise came as the DPRK vowed to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the US.

It started on February 25 and is due to finish on Friday. Despite the threats, the US military went ahead with the training course. It is being held in Dongduceon, north of the capital, Seoul.

About 250 soldiers from across the division are taking part in the course, which is focused on combat assault operations. Korean Augmentation to the US Army is also participating in the exercises.
