BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhuanet) -- After over 11 years of negotiations, Tajikistan has become the 159th member of the World Trade Organization.
According to the Tajik Foreign Ministry, the country applied for membership back in May 2001. Bilateral and multilateral talks have been held since, to agree the terms of accession. A protocol on Tajikistan joining the WTO was signed in Geneva in December last year.
