BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The annual meeting of the National People’s Congress is approaching. 2,987 deputies have been elected and are awaiting final confirmation.

A report detailing the qualifications of the new deputies has been submitted for review by the NPC Standing Committee, which will announce a final list of names when its current session closes on Wednesday. The reports, submitted by the credentials commission of the NPC Standing Committee, said that legal procedures were followed during the election and all elected deputies are qualified. The first annual session of the 12th National People’s Congress begins on March the 5th. On Monday, the Standing Committee reviewed a draft schedule for the session and a list of names for the presidium and those who will observe the session.
