BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- n President Bashar al-Assad said his military was capable of confronting any "aggression" targeting the country. This is his first comments since attacked the Syrian-Lebanese border earlier this week.
Assad made the remarks during his meeting with the head of ’s Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili on Sunday. The state-run SANA news agency said the meeting touched upon the situation in the region, particularly after the recent Israeli attack.
During the meeting, Assad stressed that "this aggression reveals the real role Israel is playing in cooperation with external hostile powers and their tools on the Syrian ground to destabilize Syria."
Jalili stressed his confidence in the "wisdom" of the Syrian leadership, adding that his country’s full support to Syria in the face of the "Zionist enemy." He also reiterated Iran’s keenness on the ongoing coordination with Syria to fend off foreign plots that aim to undermine the security in the region.
