BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- A statement from the Syrian military has confirmed that an Israeli air strike targeted a military research center in the area of Jamraya, northwest of the capital, Damascus.

The attack came amid fears that President Bashar al-Assad’s government is providing weapons to the Islamic militant group Hezbollah.
