BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- ’s newly appointed Prosecutor General Talat Ibrahim Abdullah has withdrawn the resignation he submitted earlier this week and asked to be reinstated.
According to the state-run al-Ahram, the Supreme Council of Justice has held an urgent meeting to discuss Abdullah’s request and says it will refer the matter to the Justice Minister.
Abdullah resigned on Monday after a sit-in by hundreds of prosecutors outside his office. President Mohamed appointed Abdullah to replace Mubarak-appointed Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud in November.
