FARC releases Chinese hostages
2012-11-23 (Xinhua)   2012-11-23 11:07:13

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Four Chinese hostages who were kidnapped by FARC in Colombia last year have been released. The Chinese embassy in Colombia confirmed the information on Thursday.

The four, three oil workers and one translator, are reportedly in good health, and will soon arrive in the capital city of Bogota to receive additional physical tests.

The captives were taken hostage by the Columbian guerilla group FARC in mid-2011 as they were driving in southern Colombia. Police says FARC pledged in February that it would no longer take hostages for ransom, one of the group’s main sources of income along with drug trafficking and extortions.
