BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran’s authorities organised a rally in Tehran on Friday to mark the anniversary of the 1979 hostage crisis when revolutionary students stormed the US embassy in Tehran and took hostage 52 Americans.
Demonstrators marched to the former U.S. embassy complex, waving flags and banners with anti-U.S. and anti-Western slogans. General Mohammad-Reza Naghdi, commander of the pro-government paramilitary Basij forces offered a reward of gold for anyone who could prove if there is a regime committing more crimes than the US regime.
US has led to prohibit the world’s banks from completing oil transactions with Iranian banks, aimed at forcing Iran to halt uranium enrichment program. Tehran had said its program is for peaceful use.
Some Friday's protesters called the sanctions imposed on Iran by the West "no effect" on the nation’s resolve.
