BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Rebel fighters from the Free n Army have claimed to have fought a battle to capture a police station in Aleppo, the country's largest and most populous city.
Footage provided by AP Television shows Free Syrian Army fighters coming under fire.
The battle for the police station lasted about 11 hours. After taking control of the station, the rebels say they were bombed by Syrian fighter jets and helicopters, and forced to flee.
As clashes continue in Aleppo, waves of people are fleeing across the border into Turkey. On Tuesday, around 300 people, including the badly wounded, were reported to have fled to Turkey to escape the conflict.
According to Turkey, more than 40,000 Syrian refugees are being sheltered in tents along the border.
