Fiji rolled out 10 travel experiences for Chinese travelers at a road show in Beijing on Tuesday.
The show highlights Fiji's unique charm as an island destination, including its pristine natural scenery, rich cultural explorations, adventure activities and authentic cuisine that cater to the diverse needs of Chinese tourists.
Approximately 30 local partners from Fiji participated in in-depth exchanges and discussions with over 300 Chinese travel agencies and 100 Chinese media partners during the event.
The direct flights and visa-free travel have helped draw in more Chinese tourists to the destination.
Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, says, "China is one of Fiji's important international source markets, and we will continue to increase our investment in this key market and deepen our collaboration with Chinese travel agencies and media partners."
China is the fourth-largest source country for Fiji, and direct flights from Hong Kong to Fiji resumed in April 2023. Over the past year, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Fiji has quickly rebounded, establishing Fiji as a leading long-haul island destination for the Chinese market.
From April to September this year, the number of Chinese tourists traveling to Fiji increased by 26 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
"Fiji has become an ideal vacation destination for island lovers worldwide, and its uniqueness lies in the perfect blend of culture and rich tourism experiences. Chinese visitors can deeply experience the vibrant Fijian lifestyle, adding more emotional value and relaxation to their holiday," Hill said.
To make it more convenient for Chinese tourists to travel to the island, Fiji Airways will maintain direct flights from Hong Kong to Fiji three to five times per week. Additionally, there are also two weekly direct flights from Tokyo and Singapore to Fiji.
