Located in Yining city in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region's Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, the historical Liuxing Street features a unique hexagonal layout designed by a German engineer and built in the 1930s.
Tourists can sample traditional bread and ice cream, enjoy architecture adorned with different colors and experience diverse ethnic group culture in the community.
Over the years, the local authorities have been investing to upgrade the infrastructure such as roads and parking areas, for the convenience of both local residents and visitors.
It's not uncommon to hear the soothing melody of accordions, a traditional instrument of the local Russian ethnic group, on Liuxing Street. The street's Accordion Museum exhibits more than 800 accordions of different styles and sizes and a local band plays the instrument for visitors.
