Renowned British fashion designer brand, Vivienne Westwood, showcased its Spring-Summer 2025 collection on Thursday at Xintiandi in Shanghai during the SS2025 Shanghai Fashion Week. This show marked the finale at the main venue in Xintiandi.
Taking inspiration from Shanghai's distinctive architectural history along the Bund, along with its autumn atmosphere , the event commenced with a timeless black summer ensemble.
This was followed by neon yellow pinstripe suits paired with silk twill scarves, introducing a striking visual contrast to the runway. Subsequent looks seamlessly integrated iconic British elements, evoking the brand's nostalgic essence—featuring the Sunday dress and Monday shirt, along with the Long Mirror Dress in dégradé rust, exuding a sense of timeless wear.
Thirteen years ago, the opening show of the 2012 Spring/Summer Shanghai Fashion Week was headlined by Vivienne Westwood, alongside international supermodels.
"It's like coming home...China is very important to our company. I'm always astonished how hard-working people are here and how young people are here!" remarked Vivienne Westwood's brand creative director, Andreas Kronthaler.
Kronthaler emphasized Shanghai's pivotal role in the fashion landscape, noting that its fashion week is on par with those held in New York and London. Shanghai's exceptional inclusivity in fashion was also highlighted by Kronthaler, noting the city's young individuals' adeptness at expressing their unique styles, aligning closely with the brand's ethos.
Regarding future plans over the next five years, Kronthaler mentioned that in addition to the upcoming spring exhibition in Shanghai next year, he also hopes to continue participating in more fashion weeks. "My wish is to be standing here again in five years and doing another fashion show!"
