New consumption scenarios in culture, tourism and catering were introduced in Chinese cities this summer to boost consumer activity and support economic recovery.
The new attractions showcase local features with exciting activities, such as the hotpot bus in Chengdu and Zhengzhou's immersive theater complex, CCTV News reported on Wednesday.
In Chengdu, Sichuan province, a novel combination of a sightseeing bus and Sichuan hotpot has become a hit.
The hotpot bus offers passengers a chance to savor authentic Chengdu hotpot while touring the city's iconic cultural landmarks.
Since its launch, the bus has made over 900 nearly fully booked trips. In February, theater performances were added, further boosting its appeal to tourists.
In the first half of this year, Chengdu welcomed over 130 million tourists, a 16 percent year-on-year increase, with tourism revenue growing by over 18 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in Zhongmu county of Zhengzhou, Henan province, the immersive theater theme park welcomed nearly 10 million theatergoers in the first half of 2024.
Over 75 percent of these visitors were from outside the province, including tourists from more than 50 countries.
Spanning 622 mu (41.47 hectares), the park, Unique Henan: Land of Dramas, offers visitors an immersive experience with 21 theaters and 56 unique spaces.
Advanced technology, including integrated sound, light and digital systems, further enhances the immersive experience.
