Chinese musical Me & My Lei Feng had its second round of performances at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing from Aug 2 to 4.
The musical features 22 Chinese songs, including the classic song, Xuexi Lei Feng Haobangyang (Learn From the Role Model Lei Feng), composed by Wu Hongyuan and Lou Shengmao in 1963.
The Chinese musical made its debut in Beijing on June 6, receiving warm feedback from the audience with its homage to the revered figure of Lei Feng, celebrated for his selflessness and unwavering dedication to Chinese culture.
Directed by Jia Ding and Wei Sijia and supported by the Beijing Culture and Arts Fund, the musical has been touring nationwide since June.
Lei Feng's legacy traces back to March 5, 1963, when Chairman Mao Zedong commemorated the young soldier in the People's Daily. This tribute led to the establishment of "Learn From Lei Feng Day", honoring him as a role model embodying virtues that continue to inspire generations.
Born on Dec 18, 1940, in Wangcheng, Hunan province, Lei Feng's remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a revered figure within the People's Liberation Army ended tragically on Aug 15, 1962, due to a fatal accident, leaving behind a legacy that continues to resonate through artistic expressions.
