Actor Yu Shi's latest romantic film, Welcome to My Side, has made a groundbreaking entry into the summer market, swiftly climbing the ranks to become one of the top-grossing blockbusters on the national single-day box-office charts on Friday.

Recent data from the movie information tracking platform Beacon reveals that the film has amassed over 13 million yuan ($1.79 million) in box-office earnings, securing the second position in the nationwide box-office rankings, trailing behind the crime suspense feature A Place Called Silence.

Helmed by director Song Haolin, this whimsical narrative chronicles the story of a young man who, following an accident, finds himself plagued by recurring visions of large flocks of rubber ducks quacking in his vicinity. Intriguingly, he soon discovers that a young woman holds the key to restoring his normalcy, as his peculiar affliction dissipates only in her presence. Thus unfolds a delightful blend of comedy and romance.

Bolstered by the immense success of previous projects such as the fantastical film Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms and the television series To the Wonder, actor Yu, also known as Yosh Yu, has solidified his position as one of the most coveted young talents in the local film industry.

Reflecting on their initial encounter, director Song fondly recalled being captivated by Yu's aura. At the time, Yu had just wrapped up a game of basketball, sporting a baseball cap and a sweat-soaked vest, emanating a vivacious and dynamic energy that perfectly aligned with the essence of the character, as noted by Song.

In the film, viewers will be treated to the talented actress Wang Yinglu, who gained prominence through her role in the popular fantasy series I Am Nobody, portraying the female lead.
