The Communist Party of China's membership rose to 99.18 million at the end of last year, with an annual growth rate of 1.2 percent, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee said on Sunday.
The Party's grassroots organizations sit at 5.18 million, showing a net increase of 111,000 from the previous year, according to the data released, one day ahead of the 103rd anniversary of the Party's founding.
Last year, 2.41 million individuals joined the Party, with 53 percent coming from frontline production and work roles, 53 percent having a college education or above, and 82 percent aged 35 and below, data showed.
According to the statistics, the composition of the Party members continues to improve. By the end of 2023, Party members with a college education or above accounted for 56 percent of the total and increased by 1.5 percentage points from the previous year.
Female Party members made up 30.4 percent of the total, an increase of 0.5 percentage points. Workers and farmers still constitute the majority of the Party members, accounting for 33 percent of the total, it showed. |
