China has initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imported pork and pork products originating from the European Union, the Ministry of Commerce said on Monday, which comes days after the bloc decides to impose additional tariffs on Chinese-made battery-powered electric vehicles.
This investigation is in response to an application filed by the domestic industry, said an official of the ministry's trade remedy investigation bureau.
After reviewing the application pursuant to relevant Chinese laws and regulations, as well as adhering to World Trade Organization rules, the investigating authority determined that the application met the criteria for launching an anti-dumping probe, the official said.
The investigating authority will conduct the probe in line with the law, ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of all stakeholders involved. The authority will make an objective and fair ruling based on the findings of the investigation, the official added.
