National Ballet of China showcases innovative creations at annual workshop gala

Set to captivate audiences, the 14th edition of the National Ballet of China's prestigious annual ballet creative workshop is poised to grace the stage at Tianqiao Theater in Beijing from May 5 to 7.
Themed "Riding the Wind", the workshop gala promises a mesmerizing showcase of original ballet compositions crafted by the company's talented young choreographers, drawing inspiration from a tapestry spanning Chinese history to cutting-edge AI technology.
Among the anticipated highlights is The Goldberg Variations by choreographers Xu Yan and Wang Jiyu, a piece infused with the essence of Bach's eponymous musical masterpiece. Additionally, Journey of Life by choreographer Peng Jie intricately weaves a narrative depicting the stages of a person's existence from youth to old age, while Remember Me Please by choreographers Su Yang and Wu Siming poignantly explores the lives of individuals grappling with Alzheimer's disease through the language of dance.
An annual springtime tradition, the National Ballet of China's ballet creative workshop serves as a platform for emerging choreographic talents to unveil their original works. To date, the event has premiered 77 distinct dance compositions by 38 visionary choreographers, fostering a legacy of artistic innovation and creative expression within the realm of ballet.
