Bejart Ballet Lausanne triumphantly returns to Beijing

After a remarkable 13-year hiatus, the renowned Bejart Ballet Lausanne made a triumphant return to the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, captivating audiences with a series of performances from April 19 to 21. The company, founded by choreographer Maurice Bejart in 1987, showcased four timeless classics, marking a momentous occasion in the world of dance.
The eagerly anticipated performances commenced with 7 Danses Grecques, a captivating piece set to the music of Mikis Theodorakis, which made its debut in 1983 in New York. Following this, the program featured Adage pour deux, a mesmerizing pas de deux premiered in 1986, accompanied by the timeless melodies of Beethoven. The evening continued with The Firebird, an enchanting ballet set to Igor Stravinsky's evocative music, before culminating with the powerful and iconic Bolero, set to the stirring composition of Maurice Ravel.
Ahead of the performances, assistant artistic director Elisabet Ros, along with esteemed dancers Julien Favreau, Oscar Eduardo Chacon, and Solene Burel, graciously met with the media at the NCPA on April 17, offering insights into the company's artistic vision and the profound significance of their return to the prestigious venue.
