China's domestically developed single-aisle passenger plane C919 netted 40 new orders from Tibet Airlines, a regional airline based at Gonggar Airport (LXA) in Lhasa, the Xizang autonomous region, at the opening day of Singapore Airshow on Tuesday.
Tibet Airlines inked deals with Commercial Aircraft Corp of China 40 C919 aircraft in plateau variant. The variant meets the transportation requirements in high-altitude areas by shortening the fuselage and implementing high-altitude modifications.
The carrier also signed an agreement with COMAC, the manufacturer, for an order of 10 ARJ21 jetliners in plateau variant. ARJ21 stands as China's first home-developed regional passenger jet, and the plateau variant has good crosswind resistance at high-altitude airports.
Meanwhile, Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Group signed an order with COMAC for six ARJ21 aircraft in derivative models, including fire extinguishers, medical aircraft and emergency rescue command aircraft.
Two C919 and three ARJ21 aircraft debuted at the airshow by static display and flight performance. The airshow will last from Tuesday to Sunday.
