As the sun of early summer sets, longing for things faraway becomes more fervent. MEDI, a newly opened Mediterranean restaurant in Beijing, is giving diners a taste of faraway delights.
MEDI's name comes from the French name "Mediterranee", inspired by Mr Medi, an overseas Chinese frequent traveler whose first love is food. He's always on the road, discovering the cultures of different countries, and making friends all around the world. Mr Medi fell in love with the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle and dreamed of bringing its diverse flavors and exotic delicacies to the busy people of the city.
Located on Huaxi LIVE in Wukesong, Haidian district, the restaurant brings the atmosphere of a Mediterranean street, a two-story building in an asymmetrical style and an attractive Mediterranean look.
With the classic blue and white palette as its facade, the design features other adorable elements, like vibrant and colorful flowers spilling out of planters and fluttering in the wind above the restaurant signboard.
MEDI focuses on authentic Mediterranean cuisine that's good for health. Its menu is full of flavor — bringing together the unique aromas of the Mediterranean with its fresh vegetation.
The menu comprises classic Mediterranean cuisine, as well as fusion and innovative dishes, with perfect portion sizes. Diners can also order crowd pleasers like sirloin steak, mini burgers, grilled chicken wings, and french fries.
The Spanish olive oil and garlic shrimp is one highlight. Fresh from the sea, the firm and succulent shrimp sizzle with garlic slices and aromatic olive oil that takes their flavor to the next level.
The Mediterranean specialty, hummus with house pita bread, is bringing fresh ideas to the classic dish. In addition to the standard Middle Eastern combination of tahini, olive oil, garlic and lemon, MEDI adds spinach juice to upgrade the freshness.
The MEDI cold cut platter is another must-try which includes chorizo sausage, Spanish ham, salami, hummus, baba ganoush, blue cheese, Parmesan, goat cheese, grilled vegetables, and olives.
