Digital China Summit powers down in Fuzhou

The fifth Digital China Summit concluded on Sunday in Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian province, having heavily promoted China's digital industrialization and industry digitization.

During the two-day summit, 565 project agreements were signed with total investment value of 299 billion yuan ($44.28 billion), covering 5G, internet of things, artificial intelligence, industrial internet, cybersecurity and satellite applications, according to the organizing committee.

A total of 18 sub-forums were held on some hot issues in digital technology, such as 6G, digital renminbi and greening and digitizing the Road and Belt Initiative.

A special achievements exhibition with more than 200,000 square meters of space also took place, where nearly 500 exhibitors showcased their new achievements in digital technology.

The summit, which has been held for five years in a row, has become an important platform to build consensus and promote innovation, experts said. The summit themes, including information-driven digital transformation, data elements and innovation reform, embodies the country's efforts in pursuing the Digital China initiative.

Official data showed from 2017 to 2021, the scale of China's digital economy has grown from 27.2 to 45.5 trillion yuan, ranking second in the world, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.6 percent.

The proportion of the digital economy in China's GDP has increased from 32.9 percent to 39.8 percent, becoming one of the key engines to promote economic growth.
