Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech to the opening of the 139th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday. Xi stressed that China has been actively participating in the Olympic Games and consistently promoting the Olympic spirit.

"Beijing 2022 opens tomorrow evening, and all eyes will be on China," Xi said. China is ready to present a simple, safe and splendid Olympic Games to the world, he added.
