Yi Fan, a cardiologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, recently returned to his work.
Yi got infected with the novel coronavirus while treating patients at Wuhan Central Hospital and was hospitalized in late January last year.
His situation caught particular attention in China in part due to the circulation of a picture online of his face after it darkened due to the drugs used for treatment.
Wang Chen, the president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences who guided Yi's treatment, said Yi's recovery is a miracle in clinical medicine.
Yi was discharged from hospital last May and his face has turned back to the normal color.
He began to provide outpatient service at his hospital since April. He said he would like to work more zealously to cure more patients.
"I think the most important thing for a doctor is to give patients hope," he said.
