To present a gastronomical tour among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the 2nd International Delicacy Carnival made a great coup last weekend.

Taking place at Lang Park·Station in Beijing's Chaoyang district, the carnival showcased over 40 brands from countries such as Switzerland, Australia, Turkey and Indonesia. A feast of designer products and dining brands, it drew crowds of about 20,000 to visit and have a good time.

As one of the major events during the Beijing Shopping Season, the carnival put on a celebration of cultural creative products, global cuisine and music. Music Corner, a highlight event of the 2020 Beijing Music Exposition, also selected Lang Park·Station as a venue for the live music performance.

According to Zhao Chunyan, director of the Carnival, this year's scenic design centered on canal and railway – two elements revealing the historical location of Lang Park·Station. Seven cultural theme sections ranging from technology, dining and live music to animation, urban life and cinema, offered a diverse array of cultural consumption in the city.

"We hope this Delicacy Carnival will bring delightful cultural events from morning till night. Culture will stimulate consumption upgrading and add more charm to the city of Beijing," Zhao said. "Setting the entire carnival within the cultural creative park, we plan to further boost retail business and provide more exposure for the brands."

The two-day carnival opened to the public from 11 am to 9 pm, with free admission. Visitors could enter the park after temperature measurement and health code checks – part of the public health protocol responding to the COVID-19.

Lang Park·Station, neighboring the embassy area and Jiangfu Park, is an artsy recreational landmark fostering creative industries and the night economy. The park has already gone into operation in Beijing's Chaoyang district.
