World's top 10 most valuable car manufactures
2020-04-16

Chinese auto group Geely took the ninth spot among the most valuable global automotive manufactures, and Volkswagen from Germany once again remained on top, followed by the German brand Daimler and the Japanese brand Toyota, according to a report by Brand Finance, the world's leading independent brand valuation consultancy.

The latest Brand Finance annual report released in March ranked the most valuable automotive manufactures, which charts automotive groups of brands as a whole. Volkswagen crowned the list with a whole brand value of $113.6 billion, increasing 9 percent year-on-year.

Daimler, in second place, saw its total brand value rise 10.4 percent to $76.3 billion this year, followed by Toyota, with brand value at $74.8 billion.

Local Chinese brand Geely, the only domestic automaker featured in the top 10, registered a portfolio brand value of $18 billion, up 16.2 percent from the previous year.

According to Brand Finance, the total brand value is calculated by using the Royalty Relief approach, a method compliant with industry standards set in ISO 10668. The calculation involves estimating likely future revenues attributable to a brand by computing a royalty rate for its use, in order to arrive at a brand value understood as a net economic benefit that a brand owner would achieve by licensing the brand in the open market.

Let's take a look at the world's top 10 most valuable automotive manufactures.
