Wuhan, epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak,is working to convert its sports stadium and two convention centers into three mobile cabin hospitals to treat patients infected with the disease, which began the night of Feb 3.
What's a mobile cabin hospital?
A cabin hospital is a mobile medical structure with multiple functions, such as emergency treatment, surgical treatment and clinical examination.
A mobile structure can be real houses or tents and other temporary structures easily shipped and installed, and are widely used in various emergency treatments.
How many beds will the first batch of hospitals provide?
With a total capacity of 3,800 beds and 2,000 professional medical staff members, the three hospitals can ease the ongoing shortage of the city's treatment resources.
Will centralized quarantine cause cross-contamination?
The three hospitals are designed to provide medical treatment for patients who have already tested positive for the virus but show no severe symptoms.
Patients whose symptoms worsen will be transferred in a timely manner to designated hospitals with rescue equipment.
Will there be more mobile cabin hospitals?
Wuhan will build 13 mobile cabin hospitals, creating tens of thousands of beds for mild cases of the disease.
Another 20 mobile cabin hospitals to be used across the country will be assembled in Wuhan, to contain and treat patients who need observation, mild cases or those suspected of contracting the disease.
