Editor's note: President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the second China International Import Expo in Shanghai on Tuesday. He announced the opening of the expo and delivered a keynote speech, which was widely welcomed by participants.

The CIIE is the first national-level, import-themed expo in the world, showcasing China's strong determination to build a more open business environment.

It also creates a wide platform to promote cross-company communication and cross-boundary collaboration. As one of the earliest global companies to open offices in China, PerkinElmer took root in China in 1978.

For over four decades, we have committed to innovation and localization. Having listened to President Xi Jinping's speech at this year's opening ceremony, we feel even more confidence in the Chinese market's continued opening-up and improved business environment.

At this year's CIIE, we have brought our cutting-edge products and solutions for diagnostics, life sciences, food and analytical chemistry.

We believe the expo also will allow us to find more opportunities to better learn the needs of local customers, to drive co-innovation and to expand broad collaboration.

We are very happy to hear more about further opening-up and inclusiveness in President Xi Jinping's keynote speech.

The higher-level opening-up measures, especially further opening up its market, cutting tariffs and institutional costs, improving business environment, facilitating and protecting investment, has boosted our confidence in the Chinese market.

China has expressed via CIIE – a mutually beneficial and win-win platform – its commitment and demonstrated its efforts to further open up and collaborate with the world.

As an "old friend" who came to the CIIE again, I was really encouraged and inspired by the speech of President Xi Jinping. President Xi pointed out that economic globalization is a historical trend and no one can stop the impetus of great rivers from flowing forward.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. The past 70 years have been magnificent and fruitful. I have never seen a country where so much wealth has been created in such a short amount of time.

China has created a great saga in the history of human development, and people's quality of life has been dramatically improved in the past decades. The whole country is immersed in a strong atmosphere of realizing the "China Dream". China's development is an essential part of human progress, and can achieve development for all, which is a great parallel to L'Oréal's mission – "Beauty for all".

We are excited and inspired by President Xi's speech that China is committed to opening up wider and deeper, and welcoming more collaborations with the world.

China has huge potential, and we have been encouraged to further unlock our own growth potential and increase investment in talent, innovation and cooperation in China.

Mondelez International is proud to be in China and for China.

We are dedicated to empowering Chinese consumers to snack in the right way - right for the delicious moments, right for the well being, right for the planet.

President Xi has delivered a speech on the opening ceremony of CIIE for the second consecutive year, which underlines the importance of CIIE, and demonstrates China's consistent commitment to the multilateral trading system and promoting free trade. We are inspired and encouraged by his speech to promote a cooperative, innovative and shared world economy.

Corning is one of the first companies that entered the Chinese market since China's opening-up. Now, China has become the second-biggest market for Corning after North America. During our development and investment, we have witnessed that China has taken solid and practical steps to embrace the world and future development through expanding the market, improving the market structure, and optimizing the business environment, and this is also addressed in President Xi's speech.

We are fully confident in the future of the Chinese economy as the country upholds the principles of inclusive development and shared benefits, which will definitely promote the development of all Corning's business sectors including optical communications, display technologies, automotive, mobile consumer electronics and life sciences.

We welcome President Xi's remarks at CIIE 2019 that reaffirmed China's commitment to policies enabling greater foreign investment by equalizing the market for foreign companies, greater intellectual property protection, and reforming regulations that will facilitate market access for many products.

As a global innovation and technology company that keeps customers at its core, we look forward to continuing to be a part of China's even more open market.

We welcome President Xi Jinping's speech, in particular his clear message that China will continue to open up its market, keep expanding its market access, continue improving its business environment and strengthen IPR protection.

China is a strategic growth market for the LEGO Group, and President Xi's speech further strengthens our confidence in China and the future of our business in the country.

We will continue to invest in China to bring the creative LEGO potential and high-quality possibilities for "learning through play" to many more Chinese children.

President Xi Jinping's speech was very encouraging, since it further voiced China's commitment to promoting a new-round of high-level opening up and sharing its development opportunities with the world. We believe it's a very encouraging message for both Chinese and overseas enterprises that China adheres to economic globalization and free trade.

Within the last two years, China's national strategy has taken further steps by opening up a new front for international companies in China, further strengthening our confidence to plant deep roots in China and expand our local distribution in the country. China has become the second largest global market for AstraZeneca. Its market will play a more and more important strategic role in AstraZeneca's global landscape, along with our continuous efforts to strengthen local research and innovation, promote international exchange and collaboration, and create a global innovative healthcare ecosystem by utilizing global resources to seize Chinese opportunities.

President Xi's speech once again unveiled a strong message for expansion and demonstrated China's responsibility as a major nation to share Chinese opportunities and build a bright future with the world. He specifically mentioned that countries should strengthen innovation collaboration, promote the integration of science and economy, share innovative results and further utilize knowledge to benefit humankind. I believe it will ignite the innovative vitality of healthcare industry, driving our future development in China.

Last month, China released a regulation optimizing its business environment. The Foreign Investment Law will also be implemented starting from January 1st next year. President Xi Jinping pointed out that China will pay more attention to the role of imports, further reduce tariffs and institutional costs, and expand imports of high-quality products and services from other countries.

With the continuous improvement of its business and innovation environment, China enjoys increasing attractiveness for foreign investment. We will continue to seize the opportunity, further promote connections with advantageous medical resources between China and the world, and integrate "bringing-in" and "going-out" strategies to improve China's strength in medical research and innovation.

In President Xi's speech, he remarked that, "We must make the pie that is the global market bigger and richer, with our hearts and hands opening up to the world." I resonate strongly with this remark. China's economic development has demonstrated speed and scope that are incomparable. It is exciting to see that China intends to further improve its business environment for foreign enterprises, and boost the progress of global economic connection.

As a global company headquartered in France, Sanofi feels excited and honored to attend the CIIE once again to contribute to the deepening Sino-French cooperation and interaction in the healthcare sector. As one of the first of MNCs to enter China, Sanofi witnessed the significant achievements of the Chinese government's efforts to promote the development of public health, and Sanofi is proud to make contributions to improving healthcare standards for the Chinese people.

Sino-French relations continue to grow at a high level and are more mature, stable and dynamic. As China accelerates its opening up efforts, Sanofi will grasp this great opportunity. Sanofi will strongly support the "Healthy China 2030" initiative with our comprehensive offerings and accelerate the introduction of innovations to China – by 2025, we plan to bring over 30 new products to China, and will drive digital innovations to improve patient outcomes.
