BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhuanet) -- An FBI agent has shot and killed a Florida man who turned violent while being questioned about the Boston Marathon bombings.
According to the FBI, 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev was shot in a violent confrontation with the police while being interviewed about the Boston blasts. The FBI said the special agent was acting on the imminent threat posed by Todashev.
Todashev was killed and the special agent was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Todashev was a Chechen who previously lived in Boston. His friend said Todashev knew Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both of them were mixed martial-arts fighters. But the friend said Todashev had no connection to the bombing and wanted to leave the country.
Todashev had been arrested on May 4 and charged with aggravated fight with great bodily harm in Florida.
