On Monday, all government buildings and schools in Pyongyang flew the flags at half-mast. Crowds gathered at the memorial sites, weeping openly. People came to pay respects at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, following the government designated routes. Many shops and restaurants are closed, but the city remains orderly, with increased security patrols on the streets.

A national day of mourning will be held on December the 29th, when major cities will hold ceremonies, and residents will stand in silent tribute for 3 minutes.
