    染色体结构或数目的改变。可自发产生或诱发产生。染色体畸变一般指染色体的较大范围的结构改变,在光学显微镜下可以识别。原核生物中的染色体结构改变虽然在光学显微镜下不能分辨,可是在电子显微镜下却能看到和真核生物相似的畸变杂合体图像。染色体畸变的研究可以用来揭示染色体结构改变的规律和机制;可以用来绘制细胞学图;可以用来探讨物种形成机制;在行为遗传学研究中可以用来获得嵌合体;可以用作检测环境中的诱变和致癌物质的指标;可以用作人类染色体病诊断和预防的依据;并可以用来培育优良的动植物品种。
