性质:以物理、化学方法去除海水或苦咸水中盐分的过程。也是生物产物提取精制中的一个常见的步骤,脱盐常不但指去除离子还包括去除不带电荷的小分子物。经脱盐后的水可用作饮用水、生产用水或冷却水。有蒸发法、电渗析法、离子交换法、冷冻法和反渗透法、化学沉淀法等,其中以多级闪蒸法为主,电渗析和反渗透膜法不多用。膜分离法比闪蒸法成本高,但较灵活。脱盐后的废水,由于被盐饱和并析出沉淀,会导致管路堵塞或引发其他问题,应引起注意。
