近年认为在血管壁有一种特殊蛋白质，能与多巴胺结合，兴奋α受体，使血管舒张。实验证明，多巴胺的这种舒张血管的作用，不能被β受体阻断剂、阿托品以及抗组织胺药所拮抗，故推测血管壁内存在有特殊的受体。然而，这一效应可被α受体阻断药所对抗，则又说明这一作用是激动α受体的结果。
