“郯城—庐江断裂带，是中国东部一条巨型断裂带，总体上呈南北走向，绵延2400多公里。高峰头镇马陵山西侧的地震断裂带，是国内惟一的第四纪活断层地貌景观。站在马陵山西坡，可以看到一面是浅红色、一面是黄褐色的土地，一线之隔“泾渭分明”。浅红色的是新生代的土壤，而黄褐色的是中生代的土壤，两者相差的年代超过亿年。如果你从中间的线上漫步而过，就实现了“一步跨跃亿年”的神话。郯城地震断裂带，对研究中生代和新生代地质构造、地震的形成与变化提供了可靠的实物依据。
