描述SesuviumL.海马齿属,番杏科,8种,分布于热带和亚热带海岸的沙滩上,其中海马齿S.portulacastrumL.我国南部海边亦产之,全株植物以水漂洗2-3次后煮熟可为蔬菜。草本或亚灌木;叶对生,肉质,线状匙形或近圆柱形;花单生于叶腋内,稀排成聚伞花序;萼管短,裂片5;花瓣缺;雄蕊数至多枚;子房上位,3-5室,有胚珠多颗;蒴果膜质,为宿萼所包围,近中部环裂。
