中塔和尚嗣玄沙,在福州,师讳慧救,泉州莆田县人也。

出家于龟洋山,依年具戒,便遇玄沙,密契心源,更无他往。后以闽王钦敬,请转法轮,奏赐紫衣矣。

师有时上堂云:“古今坦然,法尔如是。与摩道,还有过也无?”有人持此语,举以长庆。长庆云:“还得无过摩?”

问:“如何是大庾岭头事?”师云:“料汝承当不得。”学云:“重多少?”师云:“这般底论劫不奈何。”

师问了院主:“只如先师道:‘尽十方世界真实人体。’你还见这个僧堂不?”对云:“和尚莫眼花。”师云:“与摩则斫额望先师,未梦见在。”

师上堂云:“我此间粥饭因缘。纵然为兄弟举唱宗乘,终是不恒。如今欲得委省要,却是山河大地,与汝诸人举明其事,却常亦能究竟。”又云:“若从文殊门入者,则一切有为。土木瓦砾,悉皆助汝发机。若从观音门入者,则一切善恶音声,乃至虾蟆蛐鳝,助汝发明。若从普贤门入者,则不动步则到。我以此三处,示汝方便。如持一只箸,搅大海水,令彼鱼龙知水命,还会摩?若无智眼而审谛之,任汝百般巧妙,不为究竟。”问:“佛法大意,从何方便门得入?”师云:“入是方便。”问僧:“汝岂不是展兄少师?”对云:“不敢。”“汝和尚教伊行脚。”师便失声云:“汝和尚是什摩心行?”

师有时云:“满眼觑不见眼根昧,满耳听不闻耳根背。二途不晓,只是瞌睡汉。”曜日颂:

见物明明绝见尘,闻声浩浩亦非因。
宗师直示无闻见,未晓徒劳见月新。

因玄沙封白纸送雪峰,雪峰见云:“君子千里同风。”其僧却来,举似玄沙。玄沙云:“与摩则何异于孟春犹寒。”有人举似长庆,长庆云:“送书底人,还识好恶摩?”有人举似师,师云:“送书呈书了退身。”
