      印度古代文艺理论家。音译为阿毗那婆笈多,约为10至11世纪时人。他为《韵光》和《舞论》作注。这两部注应作为两书的"释论",是有独立性的著作;尤其是《韵光注》,对印度后来的文艺理论影响很大。新护发挥了《韵光》的"韵"的理论,把"意在言外"的"韵"当作诗的主体。他认为"韵"即暗示的意义,主要在于感情,由此使读者立即直接获得一种美的感受。他将这种理论应用于戏剧及其他艺术如音乐、舞蹈,写了《舞论》的注。他的文艺理论实际已超出《韵光》所论"韵"的范围,而成为一种神秘主义的哲学体系。
