卫辉市跑马岭休闲生态园位于河南省历史文化名城。狮豹头乡境内，总面积12000亩，是国家aa级风景区，具有优越的自然景观与丰富的人文景观。跑马岭休闲生态园东距107国道20公里，京珠高速公路25公里，翟阳省道从这里穿境而过，交通便利。这里山势嵯峨，怪石林立，道路蜿蜒，是中原通往秦晋的咽喉是古往今来的战略要地，据传三国时曹操曾选址在这里安营扎寨；赵匡胤千里送京娘路过此处；元末朱元璋屯兵牧马于跑马岭；宋代民族英雄岳飞大战金兵于黑龙潭；捻军在此招募民军聚众起义。这里也是革命老区，1943年就建立抗日民主政府；皮定钧司令员曾率部驻守于此，当代“太行公仆”吴金印也在这里带领山区人民战天斗地，改造山河。
园区总体分为三部分：一为山顶跑马岭大草原，二为山体的生态园，三面环山，一面临水，整个地形如一把巨大的太师椅，园内植物茂盛，有多种野生动物，保持着良好的自然生态；三是山脚下的白龙湖，碧波荡漾，最大水面达6平方公里，与雄山峻岭相映成趣，生活有野鸭、鹤等水禽，白龙湖东北角水下有白龙潭，一昼夜向外涌水三万立方米，给白龙湖增加了很多灵气。
整个园区特点是：景以石为奇，有着雄险的石壁悬崖惟妙惟肖的石景；游以休闲为乐，可以赏青山绿水，住石屋窑洞，吃农家餐，品山泉水，参与性项目有速降、攀岩、荡秋千、沿钢丝、走吊桥、垂钓、荡舟、采野果、喂鸽………
步步显生机，处处有乐趣，这就是青山碧水跑马岭。
