1.八个胜景。宋沈括《梦溪笔谈．书画》:"度支员外郎宋迪工画﹐尤善为平远山水。其得意者有平沙雁落﹑远浦帆归﹑山市晴岚﹑江天暮雪﹑洞庭秋月﹑潇湘夜雨﹑烟寺晩钟﹑渔村落照﹐谓之'八景'。"后来名胜地多称其景物为八景。如:燕京八景，西湖八景。 2.道教语﹐谓八采之景色。
