描述GymnemaR.Br.匙羹藤属，萝藦科，25种，分布于亚洲热带和亚热带地区非洲南部和大洋洲，我国有8种，产西南部和南部。藤本；叶对生；花小，排成腋生、近无柄的伞形花序式的聚伞花序；萼5裂，内面基部有5－10个腺体；花冠近辐状，钟状或坛状，裂片在芽时旋转排列；副花冠着生在花冠筒的弯缺处而成为硬带，或下延至冠管的内面而成为两列被毛的条带；雄蕊着生于花冠的基部，花丝合生成筒，花药顶端具膜片；花粉块每室1个，直立，卵状；雌蕊由2枚离生心皮组成，柱头近球状，钝圆锥状或棍棒状，比花药为长，很少等长；蓇葖平滑；种子顶端具白色绢质种毛。
