戏曲剧种。20世纪60年代初，以流传于吉林省扶余一带的满族曲艺八角鼓为基础发展而成。因扶余在清代曾设新城府治,故定名为新城戏。1959年,当地文化主管部门组织八角鼓老艺人和新文艺工作者对八角鼓进行了戏曲化的创作改编工作,经多年探索和实践,将八角鼓曲牌中的〔靠山调〕、〔四句板〕作为主要声腔，创作了慢板、原板、数板、行板、弹颂板、快四板等板式，并结合板式运用了〔太平年〕、〔拣菊花〕、〔娃娃腔〕、〔茨山〕等曲牌，使它成为板式变化体与曲牌联套体相结合的剧种。它的音乐唱腔委婉抒情,清越明快。主奏乐器是高胡、三弦、扬琴。代表剧目有《箭帕缘》、《战风沙》,还有移植的《小女婿》、《刘三姐》、《江姐》等。扶余县新城戏剧团是这个剧种唯一的专业剧团，主要活动在扶余及白城一带。
