Taking the general census,collection,arrangement and research of the existing rubbings in Hainan Province made by the library of Hainan University as the example,this paper probes into the measures adopted by university library in developing the local literature and promoting the local culture and further work towards achieving the goal of becoming the research-type library.

This article analyzes the importance and the functions of constructing research-oriented university library in research-oriented university from building the advanced digital platform,abundant collections,subject librarian system,orient message service function,library spirit and innovative service.
