In order to study the influence of metal antiwear self-repairing additive composed of magnesium silicate hydroxide on the antiwear performance of lubricating oil,the wear experiments were carried out on a four-ball machine to evaluate the antiwear and friction reducing property of the metal antiwear self-repairing additive by adding it in the CD40 engine oil.

The dispersivity of the SiO_2 with a size of 10~20nm in various hydrophobic solvents was showed in the paper and the properties of the nanopaticles used as friction-reducing and anti-wear additive in lubricant were evaluated using tribotesters.
