在唐代以前,家传主要是一种著述样式,记载某一家族的多个人物,属于史部书籍中杂传的一类;唐宋是家传的变化时期,开始向仅记一人的单传演变;宋代则进一步出现了以家传为名的文传;明清以后,家传成为集部文章之一体,是一种文传。
