七里乡位于进贤县北部，距县城10公里，东与池溪乡隔河相望，南与青岚湖和凰岭乡接壤，西面濒临前坊、茅岗两乡，北面地处军山湖畔。全乡面积64平方公里，其中耕地面积53022亩，山林8480亩，水面3780亩，人口31733人，其中农业人口28733人。辖16个行政村，176个村小组，县驻乡和乡属事业单位11个，企业单位13个。七里乡属丘陵工区，有山有水，风景秀美，土地肥沃，资源丰富，劳力充足，人杰地灵，历来被称为“鱼米之乡”。
七里街是全乡政治、经济、文化中心，近几年来，按照“小城镇，大流通”的的目标，铺设了水泥路面，兴办了农贸市场。今年又作出规划：结合移民建镇，开通“十字街”，并以“十字街”为中心，延伸东西南北四条街，建好四大市场，即：建立小商品市场，完善农贸市场，发展畜牧市场，激活建材市场。初步形成农副产品一条街，小商品一条街，畜牧一条街，建材一条街的发展格局，同时，以地建街，以街活市，将七里街区划内的土地由政府垄断，分段开发。黄金地段，公开拍卖。从而增加财力，活市富民。
