Objective Liver function in perioperative periods, postoperative complications, and pathological changes in the liver were studied and compared between patients undergoing emergent and elective surgical intervention (extensive esophagogastric devascularization, EED) for portal hypertension (PTH), with the purpose to elucidate the pathogenesis of PTH.
