Based on the 3S techniques, a mesoscale model and a dynamic vegetation model, a monitoring and early warning system for ecology and climate in Hangzhou Bay is built, includingdynamic monitoring subsystems for land-cover and urban heat island, a monitoring and predicting subsystem for urban climate and a subsystem for simulation and prediction of vegetation NPP.

In order to fully understand the role of climate-vegetation feedbacks on different timescales, dynamic vegetation models need to be incorporated directly within climate models.
